I don't believe there is an officiating body that could produce an 'official 7-wonders' list. A 'wonder' is highly subjective. And besides, seven is an arbitrary number. Why not 8? Why not 20?
I'm not a big fan of the GMA list. I mean, the Washington Mall along with the Grand Canyon?
Just for fun, here are my top seven natural US wonders:
- Grand Canyon, AZ
- Devil's Tower, WY
- Old Faithful, Yellowstone, WY
- Half Dome, Yosemite, CA
- Niagra Falls, NY
- Mt. St. Helens, WA
- Kiluea Volcano, HI
And my top man-made wonders:
- Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, CA
- Mount Rushmore, SD
- Hoover / Boulder Dam, NV/AZ
- Brooklyn Bridge, NY
- Statue of Liberty, NY
- Washington Monument, DC
- Empire State Building, NY
