Question : System functions in SQL

Folks,

Is it possible to create a system function in SQL 2005?  This would be a function that lives in the Master database, but it accessible from any database?  The analogy would be a user-defined system stored procedure.

But Microsoft removed the undocumented feature in Sql 2005 onwards.
