Question : How do I delete all Outlook (2010) message prior to this year?

I copy my messages to a backup file ("Saved Data") but this had grown so large that I would like to start dividing into years. To do this, I need to delete all messages (in all folders) that are prior to 1/1/2010.

I thought the steps would be this:
1) Copy PST file into two file A) for this year and B) for prior years
2) In the prior file, delete all messages from this year
3) In the current year's file, find and delete all messages prior to this year.

But,  I can see how to find all messages from this year or last year, but not all messages prior to this year. How do I do this, maintaining the folder structure?

Thanks,
Stan Rose

Configure Auto Archive for the date required.  It will move earlier messages to the archive file.

Once the Auto Archive runs, turn it off and "close" the archive PST.

To setup and shutdown the Auto Archive feature:

  1. Pull down the "Tools" menu and select "Options...".
  2. Click the "Other" tab.
  3. Click on "AutoArchive...".
  4. Follow the prompts, and configure as desired...
