Question : SQL server 2008 management studio

I am trying to install just the SQL server management studio ( i need a sql client to connect to SQL databases) on a machine running Windows 2008R2. I tried running sql_ssms.msi but the application doesnt seem to start- no error messages and nothing happens.
What is the best way to install just the sql server client components ?

Answer : SQL server 2008 management studio

Just run the SQL Server 2008 setup and install the client tools under the shared features, and don't select any of the main services.
