Question : is it possible to connect a mobile phone (of any type) to my PC and have any incoming sms messages received and processed by the pc.

basically I want to be able to automatically receive any sms message that may arrive at my phone and push that message to my pc where I can then process it.

sms gateway providers already offer this service but they charge an arm and a leg. Surely there is a phone out there that will connect to my pc and allow me to store and process sms received into a folder/text file/database/whatever.

As long as the phone is connected to the pc. I am confident I can do the coding to act on the message once it is somewhere on the pc (using vb) but how it will get from my phone to the pc is the question i am asking.

Or is there anyway to push an sms message as a http request from a smartphone (iphone etc)

The answer may simply be a phone make and model + software.

It all depends on the phone, there should be a way to get it on to the PC and send, reply etc.
For example, you can use the nokia data suite for Nokia phones, or you can use something like myphoneexplorer for Sonyericsson phones, it all depends on what phones you want to do it with nad how adaptable they are to your software
