Question : Windows 7 Will Not Boot
When I power on my PC, it will post normally. It goes all the way to the step where it checks for bootable optical media and then stops. I do not get any errors saying why it can't boot but it does not go past checking the cd/dvd drive. It does not even lock up, I can press CtrlAltDel and it reboots. I can navigate the BIOS setup without a hitch.
Here is what I do know:
-The issue is not related to heat or power. I can run the computer perfectly off an Ubuntu Live CD.
-Nothing was installed/uninstalled software or hardware wise. I powered it down to move it, but decided not to and powered it back on 5 minutes later.
Here is what I have tried:
-I booted to the Windows 7 CD and tried several System Restores. No Luck.
-I booted to the Windows 7 Cd again and tried to repair the installation. Windows found my installation but said there were no errors.
The BIOS and the Windows 7 installation both see my hard drive fine. I choose the Command Prompt option from the installation media and I was able to browse through all my directories with no problem. Just cannot get the system to boot.
Any ideas?
