Question : record source for reports and forms gone

Hello,
i went to change record source for a report I am working on and I no longer can see how to do it. I mean the sides of the report in design view are missing - I can't get into properties- Is there a setting I may have changed- I have opened other databases - forms - and cannot find record source
I was using this different mouse that had special capabilities- could it have disabled something

And of course, the Property sheet is not currently showing.

Another way to turn the Property sheet on is to double click on the square with the black dot in the upper left corner of the form - *when the ruler is on* ... see attached screen shot - where the arrow is ...
