Question : DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer "Name" using any of the configured protocols.

Hi everyone,

My Windows Server 2008 is looking for an old Windows 2000 workstation that has been removed from our network (the machine has been physically disposed of).  I am getting the above error. (Event ID 10009, source Distributed COM) : DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer "Name" using any of the configured protocols

I have disabled that computer's computer account in Active Directory.

I also get another error related to that computer, a Kerberos error (Event ID 4, source Security-Kerberos) The Kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server <random XP workstation>. The target name used was RPCSS/<old removed workstation>.

I have googled this error, but all the solutions relate to the problem being with an existing workstation, and fixing something on that workstation. In my case, the workstation is no longer among us.

What can I do?

Answer : DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer "Name" using any of the configured protocols.

You will not able to see the content of script from RSOP.MSC,it will only show you the setting applied from the GPO.

You can use gpresult to see no of GPO's getting applied.

Install & use GPMC tool on domain controller, its a great tool for GPO management & administration.

Locate the OU where user is kept & see the Group policy applied on that OU.
