Question : Possible Hardware Fault HP Smart Array Embedded Controller 5i
Hi All
I have added 2 extra SCSI 300Gb hard drives to a server. I have then started an Array Expansion with the ACU utility (HP Hardware)
My problem is the Expand Array process has now been going for more than a week and still only a third of the way through.
the following is displayed when I click on More Information on the Array Controller

Accelerator Ratio 100% Read /0% Write

Write Cache Size 0
Battery Pack Count 0

The Accelerator Ratio is 100% READ, this is not an option i cannot change it to 50% WRITE. This is one reason why the process is taking forever.
Can someone please please tell me the significance of having 'Battery Pack Count = 0' ?
Is my Array Controller Faulty? Is there anything I can do whilst the Expansion is still running?
Suggestions I have seen include:
Replace the battery on the Array Controller (Though as there teh Accelerator is Present the battery cannot be at fault)
Increase the RAM to 128Mb
Update the Array Controller Firmware
Replace the Card
I am not keen to do any of the above whilst the expansion is happening but at the current rate it will not finish for another two weeks.
