Will Windows remote desktop will work between Windows 7 and XP? On the same router? References? Any other method of desktop sharing on same network free?

Trying to share our two home computer screens without going through an outside web server. Currently using LogMeInFree.

You can also install and use VNC to do this. If you run remote desktop on a computer while someone is using it, you'll kick them out of their session, since only one person can use the computer at a time (for XP at least). VNC will allow you to connect and view the screen of the other user while they're using it. Link is here: http://www.realvnc.com/
