Question : How do I forward an entire url to a local IP on my network in DNS?

I have this domain name: h-67-100-216-99.hstqtx02.covad.net

and i need it to forward to a local ip address, 192.168.1.*** .  I tried creating a new zone called "net" and adding the hosts for the forward lookup, but it didn't work.

I also tried just creating a host on the existing zone, but that wanted to ad "mydomain.local" to it.  So how do I set up DNS to forward h-67-100-216-99.hstqtx02.covad.net to 192.168.1.***?

You'd have to add a zone called hstqtx02.covad.net, then add a host (A) record called h-67-100-216-99 and give it the IP address.

You could also add the zone as h-67-100-216-99.hstqtx02.covad.net with a blank Host (A) record and the same IP.

This will not Forward a request, the service on that IP must still be prepared to answer requests for that name.
