Question : nslookup shows a dc in 2 domains
Last night I migrated 2 dc's (Win 2003) into a new domain. These are the dc's in 2 remote offices. What I did was a dcpromo, put in a workgroup, added to new domain and dcpromo back into a dc. One worked great and is replicating nicely, but the other one is not replicating, or it is doing it really slow. Here is a nslookup shot:
U:\>nslookup SFB.com
Server: durand-dc.sfb.com
Address: 10.1.1.10
Name: sfb.com
Addresses: 10.1.1.10
10.1.2.100
10.1.3.100
U:\>nslookup snb.org
Server: durand-dc.sfb.com
Address: 10.1.1.10
Name: snb.org
Addresses: 10.1.1.99
10.1.2.100
the durand-dc in sfb.com 10.1.1.10 is correct.
the 2 addresses in sfb.com 10.1.1.10,10.1.2.100,10.1.
3.100 are correct.
sfb.com is trusted with snb.org
and snb.org should only have 10.1.1.99, and then 10.1.2.100 is in there twice. It should not be in snb.org.
Could this be what's causing the problem, and how could I fix it?
Thanks!
Answer : nslookup shows a dc in 2 domains
Domains do try to automatically setup replication paths. If there are replications automatically setup that you don't want, then you can manage these in Active Directory Sites and Services.
