Question : 64 bit application will not connect to 32 bit Office 2003 MS Access on a Windows XP 64 bit PC

We are trying to use a native 64bit application called Matlab to export data to MS Access.
We are using Office Pro 2003 32 bit (upgrading MS Office is not an option)

The 64bit application can only see SQL and DB2 ODBC drivers.

We used this knowlegebase article to troubleshoot.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942976

Following its advice, we were able to create a an MS Access .mdb System DSN via:
"The 32-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe file is located in the %systemdrive%\Windows\SysWoW64 folder."

but the Matlab application which is native 64bit app, can not see that DSN.
And trying to use
"The 64-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe file is located in the %systemdrive%\Windows\System32 folder."
We don't have MS Access ODBC drivers available.

any ideas?

You can try using the Access 2010 connectivity components, which can run in the 64-bit environment. I'm not at all sure you can use them to bridge between your 64-bit app and the 32-bit Office stuff, but it wouldn't hurt to try.

You can always upgrade to the 64-bit version of Office, but then any items you create there would not be accessible to older 32-bit clients.
