Question : Filemaker Portal Problems

I am having difficulties with portals in Filemaker Pro 9.  

I have 2 tables:  Person and Expenses.  A person can have many expenses.  The expenses span many years.

My Person form has a portal for expense entry as in the attached file.  Here are the problems I am trying to figure out.

1.  When I enter data in the Expense Portal on the Person Form, why doesn't the data show up in the expenses table?

2.  How can I get the Portal to show all the values in the expenses table?  

3.  How can I get the portal to show expenses only after a certain date?  Ex. THis year's expenses.
