Question : How to set DVD region in Linux using linux tools
I have a laptop running OpenSUSE (11.2, I can upgrade to 11.3 if this is essential)
It has HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N WP03 drive installed.
I have recently changed my location and want to play DVDs from the shop or rent.
Is there a tool (in packages prefered, but I can compile) to change a DVD region under Linux (or bootable from USB in radical case)?
Answer : How to set DVD region in Linux using linux tools
If you are using libdvdcss or VLC to decrypt your DVD's, the region setting of the drive does not matter. If your software is prompting for a region change, I strongly suggest you switch players and not regions...
