Question : Outlook 2002 send receive fail

Hello experts, I'm trying hard to get outlook 2002 to send and receive mails but nothing seems to help.
Problem : send and receive account test fails and normal send and receive fails.
Actions i allready tried :
- uninstall - reinstall
- outlook.exe /cleanreminders  ( which helped to kill agenda reminders )
- regsvr32 inetcomm.dll
- stop firewall  ( xp simple firewall )
- stop virusscanner  ( avast )
- server timeout time from 1 min to 5 min
- tried to use port 587
- created a new outlook profile
- created new personal .PST files to hold archives
- run the tool for corrupt outlook files => 2 gb  ( files are now 1.4 gb )

I can now open /delete / move mails, something that was not possible before but i stil can not send and receive anything.  Yes, username and password are ok  :-)

Would someone know another great trick or an undocumented feature ?
