Question : Barracuda as a Network Firewall?

I have made recommendations for a customer to upgrade their CISCO PIX 515E to an ASA appliance.

They have told me that their previous IT admin had made recommendations to them and had purchased (2) two Barracuda Appliances and they were told by this individual that the Barracudas could be used in place of a CISCO PIX as well as provide in-line filtering for their network.

The Barracuda appliances are 300 Spam Firewall and a 310 Spyware Firewall.

I am not familiar with these products. Is it possible to use these as a hardware firewall instead of a PIX?

If so, please provide some documentation or links as to how this is could be achieved.

Answer : Barracuda as a Network Firewall?

Both those machines seem to be appliances that work in conjunction with a base firewall, like, a Barracuda NG firewall.  I would guess that a typical setup would be      Internet>>>>>Barracuda NG Firewall>>>>>Barracuda 300 Spam Firewall>>>>Barracuda 310 Spam Firewall>>>>>>>LAN.

Seems like a lot of hardware in a world full of hardware or software alternatives that do not require 3 devices.  imo
