Question : Rebuild RAID

I have a server with 6 SCSI disks setup in RAID5.  Two of the disks simultaneously failed, and any attempts to force bad drives online and rebuild the array have failed.  Ugh.  I will have to rebuild from scratch.  I have three (an extra just in case) new hard drives coming by first thing this morning.

How do I rebuild from scratch?  I press Ctrl+M to get into the RAID BIOS.  Then what?  Do I initialize the physical disks, then create the logical drive, then init the Logical drive, then load up Windows and my backup?  I have tried a few ways with this, and I'm not getting any traction!

Answer : Rebuild RAID

No.  Go to Configure, View/Add Configuration.  After the channels are scanned for drives, they should be showing as READY.  If they are not, then go to Configure, Clear Configuration.  If they are showing as READY, hit the Space Bar on each drive - they will begin to blink, then hit Enter - they will stop blinking, then F10, Space Bar to select the span, F10, don't change any defaults (unless you know exactly what you are doing), and make sure the RAID level is RAID 5 (should be default for 6 drives), then F10.  Go back to main Management Menu (saving the configuration when prompted), then Initialize the Logical Disk.

Now you are ready to install whatever you need to.
