Question : Need URGENT HELP PLEASE with ESEUTIL & Ex2007

Hello Experts.

In a rush, I made a rookie mistake tonight, and shift-deleted some Exchange transaction log files after the log drive became full, and now have some EDB's that won't mount.

The server is setup as such:

Windows Server 2008 w/ SP2
Exchange 2007 w/ SP1
Normal install of Exchange to the C: drive
Exchange Log Files on D:
Exchange Databases on E:

I've got plenty of breathing and working room on the E: drive in case of needed defrag, but I hope it doesn't come to that.

I have 4 mailbox stores, and 1 Pub Folder store that aren't mounting right now. They are all in 1 Information Store. I believe it's important to point out, that I did KEEP the E00.log file from where all these logs were being stored. I wiped out a ton of Exxxxxx.log files, rebooted the server, to un-mounted stores. I know... I know; ROOKIE mistake. If only I had not rushed and moved those logs to another server instead.

From other threads, I ran ESEUTIL /mh on my 5 un-mounted EDB's. 2 mailbox stores are dirty shutdowns, 2 are clean. The Pub Folders are also dirty shutdown. So 3/5 are dirty.

What is the next best logical step to take, to minimize my working through the night to resolve this issue ? I'm newbie to ESEUTIL, and don't want to make things worse at this point.

THANKS A TON FOR YOU QUICK RESPONSES... PLEASE !? :)

Hi,

1. Backup those 3 Dirty shutdown edb's.
2. eseutil /p databasefilename to repair the database.
3. eseutil /d datbasefilename to defrag the database.
4. Run isinteg -s servername -fix -test alltests

Steps 2, 3 and 4 needs to run on each dirty-shutdown databases.

Hope this helps,
Shree
