Question : migrate Outlook express to exclusive use of gmail

I am no longer interested in using OE.  I just want to move all mail (including saved personal folders) to gmail.  I know how to do the addresses but there is too much confusion about migrating.  Most comments seem to imply continued use of OE as the email engine.  I do not wish to do that.  I simply want to move entirely to GMAIL.  Are there some simple instructions for this process?  If so, can someone point me to them.  Thank you.
