Question : Creating histogram in MINITAB 15

Hello, I am trying to construct a histogram based on 100 data entries and their relative frequencies.

The data ranges from 2000 to 4000.  I want to have ten equal width classes.  So I should have 2000-2200 = .01, 2200-2400 = .02, 2400-2600 = .09 etc...

I created a stem and leaf plot to get these numbers...however I can't seem to get a histogram to represent the same data.  I guess a better question might be how to create a histogram based off of a stem and leaf.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Answer : Creating histogram in MINITAB 15

Hello Midwest,

In the attached file I have 100 cells with random values between 2000 and 4000 in column A. In column B I have defined the "bins" for the histogram, starting at 2000 and going up in increments of 200.

After activating the Analysis ToolPak, I have created a Histogram with the data in column A as the data range and the cells in column B as the Bin range.

Excel does everything else automatically. I have opted to show a chart and to display the results in the same worksheet. There are other settings that can be applied or disabled.

The attached file has been created with Excel 2010. But the same principles apply for earlier versions. If you can let us know what version you are using, a step-by-step description can be supplied.

cheers, teylyn
