Question : how to backup SBS 2008 to folder

I have a new SBS 2008 system. I want to set it up for backup. When I use the wizard I get the choice of backup up to an external drive only. Not a big problem so far, because that's what I want to do anyway. However, it does not allow me to chose a sub-folder on this drive and the first thing it wants to do is format the whole drive. I don't see any other options, but that certainly could be my inability to notice tabs, menus, radio buttons and so on.

I have a 2 TB ESATA drive to which I want to back up the SBS 2008, plus other hosts and backup files as well. I don't want to format this whole drive just to back up the 240GB C: drive on my SBS  2008.

How do I do this?

Answer : how to backup SBS 2008 to folder

If you want to use the built in backup, you don't.  SBS backup takes over the drive and it can only be used by SBS backup.  (Most consultants I know are NOT happy with the built in backup provided by SBS 2008).  Suggest you consider regular backup software and other imaging products.
