Question : Windows Wireless on Dell Mini 9

I have a Dell Mini 9 running Windows XP.  I want to allow Windows wireless to join a wireless network.  They have an "Atheros" Broadcom thing and an Ericson Wireless controller.  When I remove these programs the wireless card is not detected.  What am I doing wrong and how do I correct this?
