Question : how do i recover JPG files after rolling back Windows 7?

I have a PC running Windows 7 that got to the point of booting from the Dell screen to the Windows startup icon and back for ever.  I put in my Win 7 DVD and it booted up, but made me go back to my last good image, which was 2.5 months ago.  Unfortunately, that meant that we lost 2.5 months of family photos, including my daughter's wedding (I know, I know - I am now backing them up to an external drive).  I know the photos aren't deleted; just that Windows doesn't know about them.  What program should I use to find and recover the "lost" photos?
