Does the user you were logging in as have administrator access to the server... ?

If none of the above mentioned works, than i think you could follow the below mentioned steps:
If pushing out printers via group policy, in order for the drivers to load, you have to have the following setting enabled inside your GPO. Either (or both)
1. computer\policies\admin templates\printers\point and print restrictions DISABLED
2. user\policies\admin templates\control panel\printers\point and print restrictions DISABLED
I am not entirely sure if you need both halves disabled or not, but go ahead and do it, it's not going to hurt anything.
