Question : changing text colour using php or java

I have the following code which displays the following text values on a php page:
Retail
Contract
<td align="left" valign="top" class="cells_light"><?php echo $row_orders['type']; ?></td>

I need some php code or java code to alter the text colour so that if the record display is "Retail" it is red and if it is "Contract "it is blue. This needs to be set so that the colour is also printed when the page is printed

Well I found a solution.  I change the javascript used to display the divs to an onload function and I created a php variable to set the initial status of the style display of the div.  Then onchange the javascript forces the div display status to a new setting.  Below is the code.
