Question : accessing VPN while Internet Tethering on iPhone

I have a netbook and an iPhone and want to connect to my VPN from my netbook.

I can use my iPhone to connect it to the internet by enabling the itnernet tethering on the iPhone and plugging the phone into the usb port on the netbook.
However, I cannot connect to our VPN via the netook - when I do attempt to connect to the VPN it goes through the motions of opening the port, authenticating and logging on but I am still unable to connect to a mapped network drive on the VPN. Infact when I check the VPN settings in the Network sharing Center, the active network says the access type is "No internet access".
Is there a way of connecting to a VPN while using internet terthering on an iPhone?

Answer : accessing VPN while Internet Tethering on iPhone

Hi all,
I found out what the cause of the issue was, it is quite interesting:
I had assigned the user (in AD) a specific IP in the Remote Access tab - this was to enable the user to always have the same IP when connecting through the VPN - I could then map a drive to the user's device when they connect to the VPN). However this IP was within the scope that was used by the DHCP. Therefore when a new user looked for an IP from the DHCP they could have been (and were in one instance) assigned the same IP as the user that already had its IP reserved in AD through Remote Access - this seems to be because DHCP does not integrate with Remote Access for some reason.
So, the solution was to assign an IP that is outside the scope within the DHCP to the user.
Many thanks for all your input.
What is the fairest way of allocating the points?
B.
