Question : XP Mode - how do I get it to recognize an external hard drive?

I have a client running Win7 Pro 32-bit.  He didn't want to learn Win7, so he runs everything in XP Mode.  He has an external Seagate drive plugged in.  Win7 recognizes the external drive as external, but XP Mode sees it as a shared drive from the "Win7 PC".

When I try to run Seagate's backup software, it tells me it doesn't see any external drives.

Is there a way that XP Mode can see the drive as external?  Is there a way to mount the drive directly to XP Mode?

Answer : XP Mode - how do I get it to recognize an external hard drive?

thanks for the post rajkr2020, unfortunately this isn't really relevant to my situation as this focuses on Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5), i am doing this with Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6) which has built in Exchange Syncing and doesn't require the work arounds in the article you supplied.
