Question : Need to force exchange users to send internal email externally
We have exchange server 2003 operating under Windows 2003 Small Business Server.
We use a pop3 connector to pick up our email from our external email host.
Some users are most always in the field and away from the internal network. We set them up to go directly to the POP3 server so that they can use Outlook and not OWA as their email client.
When the field workers do come in to the office and while they're on the internal network, any mail sent to them from another user on the network is delivered internally. Since our POP3 connector is not asked to pick up the email for 'field' users, and because the field user's outlook is set up to go direct to the POP3 server and not setup with an exchange account, the emails sent from internal users are never delivered to this user.
How can we selectively tell SBS that a user is not using exchange and so his/her email should always be delivered not internally but to the POP3 host's outgoing server.
Note that one of the users says that when he is in the field he gets all his mail from fellow domain users as well as all others. It's only when he connected in to the internal network that he doesn't get internal email (same domain users).
