Question : Black screen of death upon turning PC On

Hi saviors!

I had a fully working computer with Windows 7 Ultimate installed, till I installed 2 things, restarted and then boom, black screen with blinking letter-cursor after "Toshiba" shows up. After waiting about 3 minutes, it restarts.

WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE?
I had to go edit a video, and decided to install Premiere Pro with a keygen (I tried to buy the legit but a punk on ebay sold me the cracked version, which I complained against him, but he got away). Premiere Pro seems legit, but the keygen is suspicious. However, I have used both programs before on XP pro and was fine. Even TODAY, I  scanned the keygen with commercial AVG and it said no virus.

I also installed DivX codecs and pack.

Also, AVG commercial version wanted to restart the computer after many reminders.

So I finally restarted and that's when this mess happened.

WHAT I TRIED:
I tried to get a Win 7 dvd to fix up whatever might be wrong: I used automatic correction and system restore to the point before the programs were installed.  But as expected, if Windows can't even get booted, then there's no point.

I had Ubuntu on USB and used it, and managed to get into a basic terminal menu, where I can "LS" and see some  directories, but none of which were on my computer. I think it was virtual. I'll try to get an Ubuntu desktop to verify the computer doesn't have a hardware failure.

WHAT I SUSPECT:
a hardware failure or some really bad boot virus.

That's it. Any help please? Thank you!

Answer : Black screen of death upon turning PC On

Save yourself time and nerves and do a fresh install once
more.Format everything (backup what you need first) and
install once more.believe me it takes much less time
than troubleshooting your viral infection which even if
'fixed' may produce unexpected results.
So for your peace of mind,do a fresh start and stay away from
pirated software (and say no to drugs :-)  )...
Also get yourself a decent antivirus and not something like AVG...
Get Norton or Kaspersky.
