Question : Delete USB Virtual Printer Ports

Attempting to remove virtual printer ports in Windows XP. I have several USB printers and devices and once I delete all the printers the USB virtual ports do not go away. I have the printers turned off and the USB cable unplugged from the back of the printer, not the back of the CPU. I have restarted Windows several times to see if it will release the Virtual ports. I'm also aware that Windows will always have 1 virtual USB port.

If I go into the printer and faxes area and select printer server properties there is a port area. If I select the virtual port I want to delete and select delete port i get the following "Selected port can not be deleted, The request is not supported".

I need to remove the virtual USB ports, any suggestions?

Answer : Delete USB Virtual Printer Ports

Hi,

I think what you are refering to is the AutoComplete feature.  You can use the system default autocomplete on a textbox, or use the autocomplete ajax extender on the textbox.  Either way, it is a TextBox you will be using and the dropdown suggestions are handled either by the system or by AJAX.. If you want custom results based on the input, you will need to use the AJAX route.

Cheers,

G.
