Here is a scenario to avoid, you have a mirror RAID and one drive dies, you put in a new drive and are confused about which one is which, you build a new RAID array with the new empty drive and now have a new empty raid. This might happen depending on how you interpret the wording of the RAID interface, they are NOT as easy to understand as you might wish. If you have a Dell warranty, then ask them what drive to buy, ask them to step you through every step rebuilding the RAID array, IF they goof it up then they will send out a tech on thier dime to fix it. IF you delete your data you may have luck recovering it with a program called Zero Assumption Recovery. or maybe not. Your drive 'in a foriegn state' does not mean IRAQ, it means it cannot read something very basic about it's status. Unless this server is only for your play and education get a new drive immediatly and do not use the server until it is fixed. I have had good experiances with Dell Server Support, but anyone be new at their job, so, don't be shy to have the tech ask their lead/ superior for a second opinion if you doubt them at all.
