Question : What is the proper DNS settings for ...

I have 3 servers and 8 PCs in an office.

All servers are running W2k; all PCs are running Windows XP Pro SP3.

All servers and PCs have static IP addresses configured.

The servers are configured as:
FS1/PDC 192.168.1.5
FS2/BDC 192.168.1.6
FS3/File Server 192.168.1.7

With this information what is the correct Primanry and Secondary DNS configuration for each?
the PCs?
FS1?
FS2?
FS3?

Thank you in advance for all responses.

Answer : What is the proper DNS settings for ...

Hi again,

What dariusq said is ok is your DC are Windows 2003 and after, but with Windows 2000 domain controllers you must not make point each server to itself for DNS because of DNS "island" problem.

Take a look at this article for more informations on this typical problem: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/275278

Have a good day.
