Question : new keyboard not recognised before logon

I've recently replaced the UK keyboard with a German keyboard, although XP remains in English.
The problem is that the new keyboard map in not recoognised before I'm logged in, so the login password must use the keymap of the UK keyboard.
My HDD is SATA and prompts me for a password. This must be entered using the UK keyboard map.
How can I configure XP to recognise the German keyboard on boot up?

OK, this is what you need. Apparently, since it is a US install, you have to change the default value in the registry:
