Well just to give a update, i have now conceded to stick with windows 7 home premium.  Have searched both intel and hp's website for sata drivers to no avail.  Now after running the recovery disks i get an error code (0xe0ef0003) that says recovery could not complete.  Called hp support, the represenative said they would fix the problem for $150. Not a big hp fan right now
