Question : Parallel port to usb port adapter for Printer?

I have an HP Laserjet that only has a parallel port but my laptop only has USB.

I found a Parallel Port to USB adapter online and it is only about 10 dollars so I am considering buying it.

Anyone have any experience with this type of adapter?

Will I need software for the adapter or will Windows7 auto detect?

Any recommendation on brands to buy or not buy?

Answer : Parallel port to usb port adapter for Printer?

I've used this adapter with excellent results:  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812224011&cm_re=usb_to_parallel-_-12-224-011-_-Product

Works fine with an old Laserjet.    By the way, Windows 7 has built-in support for virtually every Laserjet.     Just go to the Printers folder;  Add Printer;  Add Local Printer;  choose the virtual USB port (this will be there after you plug in the adapter);  then click on Windows Update -- this will update the list of printers.    Once it is finished the printers list will be populated with a large number of printers -- and will almost certainly include your Laserjet.     No other drivers needed :-)
