Question : How do I recover from a XP pro reinstall power failure

I have a Dell Inspiron with Vista Business Center and XPPro installed and I was using only the XP. I have never activated the Vista. 320 G drive about 1/3 full - I was experiencing many glitches including not being able to get on the internet which I was trying to repair and it kept getting worse. I had Zone alarm and PC Doctor and had not had any problems until PC Doc killed a file (i suspect) which could not be restored. During the XP Pro reinstall/repair I also lost  AC power and was unable to exit. When the machine reboots it goes right back to that point in the install program to the power failure and turns off. With a drive transfer device I can get into all the files except Documents/settings (my main user file) it will not allow me to access. If I can't restore the drive can I get into my folder? Thanks.

>>  All I know about the password in this drive is the one to start xp.    <<   that is really confusing.
you have passwords possible for Bios, disk, and windows log-in.
Which one is it ?
My guess is that you mean the Log-in password (after windows started up)
then you can access the files by taking ownership : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/810881
