Question : Named anchor tags in IE

I am using anchor tags so page 1 links to a position defined by a named anchor tag on page 2.

This works fine in Safari and Firefox but the attached error shows in IE.

The anchor tag code is <a id="top"> (i have also tried <a name="top">

The link code is <a href="foodsafety8.html#top" class="purple8">Level 4 - Food Safety<br>

Any ideas why IE is doing this?

Ok well have just found this http://webbugtrack.blogspot.com/2009/02/fixed-bugs-in-ie8.html which points to http://webbugtrack.blogspot.com/2008/04/bug-371-named-anchor-links-are-broken.html which i think might answer your question and another who asked a very similar question the other day.
