Question : Sonicwall TZ170 CPU monitor maxes out with windows updates

While I would like to upgrade my firewall, currently I do not have the budget to do so.  We have a pretty small network (about 18 users) with most folks doing their work through a pretty beefy terminal server.  I have one server in a DMZ/OPT role and when it sends large SQL requests to our SQL server the CPU monitor reflects a jump in the GUI.  Nothing huge, never have to restart the firewall or anything.  Other than running like mad through the GUI and changing settings I'd never noticed anything cause the CPU monitor in the GUI to spike before.

About a week ago, I happen to have the CPU monitor page open (I have a scheduled check of it every month where I view the CPU usage for the past 30 minutes, 24 hours, etc. just to keep an eye on it).   I just happen to be running a lot of windows updates on a recently reformatted machine.  The firewall never needed a reboot, but I saw the CPU monitor spike up to 99% for an extended period of time.  It went back to 0-2% after the updates were done.

I have re-created this when updating my servers and workstations.  I can't really find any information on this issue online.

1) Is this something I should be concerned about?

2) If so, what should I do to remedy it.

I agree with digitap. However, it probably doesn't hurt to make sure you have the most updated firmware.  I have a feeling one of the security services is scanning the updates as they're downloaded and thus causing high CPU. If so, try adding a white-list entry to MS updates.
