Question : Filezilla FTP transfer gets "stuck"

Filezilla users - Does anyone has a solution to a problem when Filezilla "stops" in the middle of a transfer, and you have to close&reopen Filezilla and tell it to "Process Queue" to continue?

Specifically what happens:
I often upload a folder containing about 10,000 small files to my dedicated LAMP server, all of the files are approximately 5000 bytes (5K) each.  Every time, when I transfer (with Max # concurrent uploads = 10), a few hundred will transfer, then I will get 1 file that starts to transfer, 0 bytes are uploaded, and that 1 file just sits there saying "tranferring" but actually not doing anything. Filezilla continues, a few hundred more files are uploaded, then a second file gets 'Stuck" the same way. This continues until I have 10 of them "stuck" ... so all progess stops since I allow max 10 Uploads at a time.
Soooooooooooo
I close Filezilla, Reopen, click "Transfer/ProcessQueue" and off it goes, uploading all 10 of those "stuck" files without any trouble, and continues until it have 10 new "stuck" files about 5 minutes later.

Answer : Filezilla FTP transfer gets "stuck"

Since you are using you own site (rather than a public site), consider active vs. passive FTP. Take a look at Slacksite for an explanation ( http://slacksite.com/other/ftp.html ). You may find, for your own site, that you need to disable passive FTP. Check that article and see if it helps. ... Thinkpads_User
