Question : Do my speed connection meddles with my online game results in PS3?

I have PS3 and the wireless connection download is about 2,7 Mbits and upload is about 0,47 Mbits, I'd like to know if it causes any problem with my on line games, because I almost get just bad results and I know my PS3 is with slow connections.

Sometimes I got 3rd/2nd place in race games like dIRT 2 or Modnation but I never keep it until the end of race, so I'd like to know if it might be caused by speed connection or it's just a bad race?

I use the XBOX360 so I'm not as sure about the PS3....but it will vary by game and by opposing player...many if not every online game has a "ping rate" readout, usually in the "game lobby" or at times in the scoreboard section, you will usually be able to read a "Ping Rate" for each player, that makes it hard to do "direct" comparisons (wired vs. wireless) to the same endpoint (player or server)
