Question : Can I use server scripts with iPad?

Hi,

A friend has recently purchased an iPad and is having trouble getting it setup at our workplace.
I have the url of the .pac file that our computers normally refer to to see which proxy server to use..in this file it specifies 6 different servers depending on the address requested.
My problem / question is does iPad support .pac files?..if i choose auto and type in the url it doesnt work. (If i choose manual and use one of the servers listed in the .pac file then it works but obviously only for certain adresses.)

if it does support .pac files then something i could try is to store it locally somewhere on the iPad itself, but i dont know how to do this..

if it doesn't then is VPN my only option?

thanks for reading

I just threw it up on our SharePoint intranet server this morning, to which I have full access. You don't have access to any web server that the iPad can access from Wi-Fi? Even a PC or something? Even an ftp server might work, the file would have to be accessible by URL.

If not, you can't save it locally through the UI but if you jailbreak your iPad you might be able to do it - there is an older discussion of how to do it on an iPhone here - http://etler.livejournal.com/18726.html
