Question : How do I use a volume license key on a HP computer with restore CD

I have a computer that I need to install Windows XP on to use as a base image for Ghosting. I would like to use the restore cd, and then change the license key to the volume license key. Unfortunately everything I have read indicates that you cannot change a key between different types for media. (OEM, Retail, Volume License) Since the restore CD uses a OEM key this would indicate that changing the os to a volume license key would not be supported. However I would imagine a number of people would like to do this so I would assume someone would know how to do this.
How should I change the license key of a computer in installed with a HP windows XP restore CD to a volume license key.
