Question : Group Policy Folder Redirection Help

Hello again guys,

I've been experimenting around with the GP for folder redirection in a 2008 environment, but I can't seem to get the right combination of settings.

What GP settings should I have set if I want:

1. Redirected to users home folder
2. Files do not automatically sync for "offline" use when I set it
3. I want people with laptops to automatically sync for offline use
4. If you're connected to the network, I don't want you to sync offline files at logoff (is this possible)
5. Set sync time intervals for people that are using offline files.

Answer : Group Policy Folder Redirection Help

>>1. Redirected to users home folder
In the Group Policy you have configured under User Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Folder Redirection
Right click on Documents and select properties.  Select Basic redirection in the top box and then home folder in the bottom box.

>>2. Files do not automatically sync for "offline" use when I set it
Can you clarify this point please?

>>3. I want people with laptops to automatically sync for offline use
You will need to put these users in to their own seperate OU and apply the Group Policy to them.

>>4. If you're connected to the network, I don't want you to sync offline files at logoff (is this possible)
Under User Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Network > Offline Files
Configure the Syncronize all offline files before logging off to Disabled, this will prevent a full syncronisation but will perform a quick sync to check the files exist.

>>5. Set sync time intervals for people that are using offline files.
Not possible as far as I am aware.
