Question : No Link Light - Qlogic QLA4010C iSCSI HBA in VMware VI3 ESX server
I have installed a Qlogic QLA4010C iSCSI card in my ESX/VI3 3.5 U4 host (ProLiant ML530 G2). The documentation I’ve found
here
and
here
indicates the driver is embedded into ESX. I have not made any configuration changes to the hypervisor OS yet.
Currently there is
no link light
on the HBA card but it is connected to a good switch port. The device does not show up in the storage adapters tab of the VMware client. This card has been in storage but was working when removed from the old box. I am trying to determine if the card is bad. Should there be a link light despite the driver not being configured? Also, should there be an area for config visible in server POST? I don't recall seeing one.
If there are commands, etc. to enable then I would sure like to know. Thanks!

Do you see the BIOS messages for the card at boot time?
