Question : putting a requiredfield on a combobox in asp

I want to put a required Field validation on a combo box but it does not rspond, I have done the follwing

1. gave it an id
2. Set the controlTo Validate
3. Set the initial value to -1

If you're sending thru a normal ISP, they are probably limiting the number of emails you can send per hour or per day.  Ubuntu 6.06.2 is kind of old now.
