Question : Restoring files of users on SBS 2008
I have a small business server (2008, standard) server that routinely makes backups to two USB drives (alternating each week).
I am now trying to access backup files for users using the backup and restore utility. However, I am unable to see their files as the administrator. I go to C:\Users\FolderRedirection
s (where users' files are) and I can see each user. However, I cannot get into their documents.
Now, I understand there are permissions issues here but doesn't it sort of defeat the purpose of being able to restore individual files?
I am doing this research for a friend at a company (very small, 5 people) who is trying to test out his restore capability and he wants to be able to restore individual files in his "my documents" folder. However, even as admin he doesn't have the ability to drill down into that folder...
Thoughts?
