Question : Windows 7, Domain: Admin cannot save to C drive from Outlook.
We added a few Windows 7 PCs to our domain recently. The users are all set to administrators. We noticed, however, that when an admin tries to save an email from Outlook to the C Drive (and perhaps other files in other programs that I haven't tried that), that the following message comes up:
"You don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission. Would you like to save in the My Documents folder instead?"
If I go right to the C drive and try copying something in, it gives me this message:
"You'll need to provide administrator permission to copy to this folder"
and I am able to click "Continue," which allows it to copy in. I can change anything directly in the C drive by approving this warning each time. It's only when I try to save right from Outlook that this issue has come up so far.
I checked the permissions under the C Drive and Administrators are checked off for "Full Control". We aren't doing any special restrictions from the Domain (unless there are things on by default for Windows 7). This doesn't seem to be an issue for our Windows XP users.
Answer : Windows 7, Domain: Admin cannot save to C drive from Outlook.
Normal user has no rights to write on C:\ even if he is added to admin group. It's how UAC works...
Create any folder on c:\ and save files inside this folder.
