Question : Security Enabling basic Authentication for EWS

Hi There, we have 1 Mac machines in our enviroment that users entourage with EWS to connect to our exchange 2010. This doesnt work out of the box, And after having one of our guys do some digging they found a suggestiion to enable basic authentication on the EWS through pwoer shell.
Now before testing this out i just wanted to get an idea on the security risk of enabling basic authenication and if there are any additional steps that could be taken to increase security with basic authentication ebabled for EWS

as long as it is coupled with HTTPS (which is by default) it is secure
