Question : Setting Up Raid On Windows 2003 Server With Faulty Hard Drive
I have a pc being used as a 2003 server that would not boot - the windows logo
would just stay constantly on screen. I manged to get it started and ran a scan
of the Hdd which came back as faulty. I haven't supplied the computer, it's about
3 yrs old or had anthing to do with installing the OS or configuration etc. It supposedly
had been configured with Raid in the past and then physically disconnected. I'm not
sure whether they have done this via an application or just disconnected the hard so
it has been running from the one drive for over a year. My plan is to clone the drive
that is faulty onto a new drive - hope this works and then setup a raid 1 system so
this will not happen again. What is the procedure for this. Do I have to load the OS
again as this is a no go or can I retro fit the raid. The motherboard is an Asus P5VD2-MX SE
do I fit the 2nd drive and run the raid utility from the motherboard cd and configure it that way.
